The Friends of Halsford Park School (PTA) is a charitable organisation lead by a committee of dedicated parents, carers and teachers with the aim of enhancing and enriching the education of the children at Halsford Park School.
By organising events and initiatives, the PTA not only provides fun and memorable experiences for members of the school and wider community, but raises funds to benefit the school as well.
Having recently fulfilled a long term fundraising goal of equipping all classrooms with interactive media screens and providing a suite of laptops for use during home learning, the PTA's current fundraising focus is playground improvements.
Phase 1 of the playground improvement scheme was to rejuvenate an area of the playground that couldn't be fully utilised due to uneven paving, overgrown trees and boggy ground. All-weather surfacing has now been laid, along with seating and a storytelling area - all funded by the PTA through grants and fundraising.
Phase 2 of the scheme is to replace the trim trail play equipment on the KS2 playground. The current trim trail is outdated, and has become unsafe in some areas, resulting in parts having to be roped off.
Phase 3 is to fund the installation of a canopy over part of the KS1 playground, to provide shade and an area for all-weather play.
Having not only missed a substantial amount of time in the classroom due to the pandemic, children have also missed out on time socialising and bonding with their peers. By fundraising for the playground improvements, and bringing them to fruition as soon as possible, the Friends of Halsford Park hopes to improve the socialisation, mental health and physical wellbeing of the children at Halsford Park School.
