I found out the other week that my friend from university, Joe, who is only 25, has recently been diagnosed with T-cell lymphoblastic leukaemia which is a rare and aggressive form of cancer, requiring aggressive chemotherapy over a 2/3 year treatment cycle.
Joe's energy and charm are unmatched and I simply cannot sit by and do nothing - so I want to do the one thing that I know can create conversation to help him however I can.
Cancer doesn't have an off-switch, so neither will I for this multi-day fundraiser. This is the most important thing I've supported and want my efforts to reflect that.
The Half Marathon Massacre
Starting December 1st, for 10 days, I'll be running a half marathon every day in an effort to raise money for Joe to support him and his young, happy-go-lucky family.
Joe is a freelance graduate actor and his partner, Katie, is currently on maternity leave with their 7-month-old bundle of joy, Feren, and due to the illness, their income has dramatically declined. As a result, they've been forced to move out of their home. They simply want to ease the burden at this horrendous time as over the coming months and year, the treatment will be tough both mentally and physically - hopefully for a positive outcome.
No one should have to experience this, let alone that this is their first Christmas as a family.
Any and all support will be greatly appreciated :)
