Hello I'm Sarah, and I'm on a mission to create the type of spaces that I've needed, on and off, for my adult life. I was diagnosed with endometriosis in my twenties and turned my back on western medicine when I realised that the hysterectomy I was told was my final option to feel better wasn't a cure. I have also struggled with anxiety and panic attacks since my teens, spend the bulk of my 20s in an abusive relationship and survived rape and sexual assault. Despite having a successful 9-5 career, starting my own business and finding happiness with my soul mate, there have been times on my journey when I have felt so alone. I haven't necessarily wanted to talk about what I've been going through, but I have had a huge need within me for acceptance, non-judgemental support and a place where I could just listen, learn, share what I was comfortable to, laugh, cry and just be me without anyone telling me what to do or offering well-meaning but ill-judged advice.
That is what I want to create for others. And, selfishly, for me as I continue on my own path.
Initially I will run local women's circles - I have already launched these with 1 daytime circle gathering and 1 evening gathering launched this month. I am also setting up an online community, which will host a fabulous array of resources and support options for women who want to be empowered to take back control of their own physical and emotional health and wellbeing. As well as stored videos, we will host live workshops, online women's circles, full moon and cacao ceremonies, guest talks and live reiki healings.
I will use the money I receive through crowdfunding to promote the existing circles and further develop them, including paying guest speakers upgrading the amenities, as well as developing and launching the online community. Should I exceed my target, I will also start to look at a 'franchise' model, where I train other women's circe Hosts and start to roll out Halcyon Days® women's circles across the UK (and beyond).
As I grow, I will expend my outsourcing network and include women-led businesses in all aspects of my work.
