The global COVID-19 pandemic has created a shortage of PPE products for the NHS and supporting key workers. Together we can help them.
While there is a huge campaign set up by Universities and other 3d printing businesses they are focused on supplying main hospitals where the demand is greatest. However at a local level here in Haddington East Lothian we have a smaller Community hospital, District Nurses, GP's, Care workers and care homes. who are so far down the supply list there is no date given on when they will get supplied.
So far i have produced 110 face shields and supplied them locally but I am limited in production to up to 20 a day and I am running out of material. Alot of people have generously offered money but I think it would be safer to use a page like this where it is transparent.
£2 makes a face shield (inc materials, bags, alcohol spray and printer use)
£20 is enough to get 100 sheets of PVC for the shields
£30 is enough for 1kg of PETG Filament which will make around 75 headbands
£50 can get me 3 Reels of PLA for disposable headbands
£400 gets an extra 3d printer that can print 4 shields an hour increasing production.
After all this is over any extra material and the extra printer will be used as part of the STEM ambassador work I do in the community this providing a longer term investment in our Area. Any extra money donated and not used will be donated to Haddington Community Council to provide Resilient support during COVID19 or used by the Community Council to fund local projects and groups who have stepped up during this time.
Crowdfunder are offering up their platform to allow all UK hobbies to print and provide for these workers for cash now on a promise to redeem these at a later date.
