Locomotive GWR 813 Re-tube.

The GWR 813 Preservation Fund is a registered charity owning ex Port Talbot Railway and GWR 0-6-0 Saddle Tank no. 813 together with over 100 items of ex GWR rolling stock dating back to the late 19th Century.  The locomotive was returned to service in 2016 after an extensive period of renovation and has since appeared in steam at a number of heritage railways. However, whilst participating in the recent Severn Valley Railway Autumn Steam Gala, it had to be withdrawn from service with a number of leaking boiler tubes.   Although 813 was only half way through its current boiler ticket, it was deemed necessary to agree to a complete re-tubing of the boiler. This was undertaken by the Severn Valley Railway and completed at Bridgnorth in November at a cost to the 813 Fund of £9000.  Donations to assist the Fund meet this unexpected expenditure will be gratefully accepted.

813 is a lovely little engine and works hard when in steam at the SVR. Hopefully the engine stays at the SVR for many years to come for many people to enjoy.
