I'm part of a community that believes in the open web, open standards, free flowing information and choice for its users, not paywalls and suppression of information that doesn't match the political believes for the owners. This is a community where members don't want to be manipulated, they don't want their data to be sold as a product but they still want to connect and experience ideas and culture from around the globe. This place exists and is called the fediverse!
We think it's amazing but it gets better with more people.
The Goal
We'd like to bring the fediverse to popular attention. It would be great to get the same offers or competition entries from our favourite brands who tend to stick to algorithm controlled networks, it would be amazing to see skilled and popular content creators on the platform, we want this place to thrive and everyone have an equal chance to be heard. When everyone has the same chance the focus is creating great content.
This is our primary goal to raise awareness on how to use the platforms on offer to help grow the community.
Via mail shots, videos, events and adverts in publications and public transport we can swing the tide of reliance on traditional social media and put the power in the hands of the people that use it and not profit in the pockets of share holders. We need to market the fediverse.
But we don't want to stop there! Oh No!
- We'd like to offer new funded platforms (instances) for the growth of the community.
- Fund development of tooling that allows members to cross post with their old audience and new, making it easy to transition.
- Offer resources that help brands join the conversation.
- Raise awareness to prominent public figures and organisations to further the intelligent discussion of ideas for the entire of society, without posts being suppressed by the networks.
In short we need to market this revolution and that is going to need us all to pull together to fund it.

The fediverse changes everything. The fediverse is an interconnected network of web apps that uses an open protocol called ActivityPub to swap messages with each other. This means that everyone can partake in community, and in the way they want where they are free to choose who their account and data lives with. Not only is this a decentralised model that's changing the world but it's also a world where trust matters and members are empowered to choose what right for them.
How do people connect?
There are many many applications you can use to connect and interact with the fediverse and the beauty is there's going to be something familiar here for you to use, whether you prefer a twitter/X style interface, instagram, Facebook, tiktok or reddit there's a platform for you. One of the popular platforms is mastodon and this is a decentralised twitter/X replacement. Here's a short video explaining it!
