The Greens believe humanity must live in balance with the natural world - and with each other. Yet current mainstream culture and economics are taking us on a different path and threatening our wellbeing.
We campaign for environmental and social justice and believe one of the best ways to achieve those ends is through the current political system.
The fact is, we don't have dodgy billionaire donors, we don't take dirty money from big businesses and we're not in the pockets of media barons.
Instead, we're proud to be people powered. That means we have to ask supporters and party members like you to dig deep and contribute as much as you can.
Following a full ballot of all Green Party members in the Torridge & Tavistock constituency, Judy was overwhelmingly selected to represent the party.
She is current Coordinator of West Devon Green Party and lives in Bere Alston, in the Tamar Valley, where she serves on Bere Ferrers Parish Council. She has been a member of the Green Party for more than 40 years, serving on its governing bodies.
“I’m delighted to have been selected to represent the Green Party at the next general election. With the natural world in such a precarious situation the Green Party’s policies have never been more vital. Whether it’s concern for a much-loved variety of butterfly or extreme weather events, we’re all affected by climate change and its impact on communities.
“Meanwhile, the rising cost of living, housing shortages, and the terrible state of our local rivers are the result of poor choices made by successive governments. We need to make better decisions that help us all live fulfilled lives in harmony with each others and with nature. I am convinced that only the Green Party offers those choices”.
Torridge & Tavistock is one of 22 constituencies in the South West region that has chosen a Green candidate for the General Election. This means around 1.5 million more people in the area can have the opportunity to vote Green in 2024.
But we need your help to make it happen in Torridge & Tavistock. First, by funding Judy's deposit. Second, by funding the campaign materials that will make sure local people know about all the good things Judy stands for - and help them make an informed decision on July 4th.
P.S. Because we're a political party we're required to run electoral register checks from people making donations above £500. And if you donate over £1,500 during a year, we are required to let the Electoral Commission know, who will make this available on their website. All donations go to the local Green Party’s general fund, not any specific candidate.
P.P.S. Permissibility checks will be undertaken in compliance with the law and information about donations, including donor details may be published. Returning Officers make returns prepared by candidates available for inspection after elections. These include details of donations.
