We are raising money for Northampton Rowing Club to help buy much needed boats

On Sunday 1st September several crews from Northampton Rowing Club are participating in the Great Ouse Rowing Marathon. The Marathon is a 22km race from West Norfolk Rowing Club through the fens to Ely Rowing Club. At 22km it is the longest distance all of our crews will have raced over before.

We have 4 senior crews in attendance comprising of seasoned veterans to very new rowers who have literally just completed their learn to row course. All will find the challenge difficult and they have been training exceptionally hard these last few months to get their bodies, minds but especially their hands ready for the task ahead.

Also competing are our junior boys J17 double crew comprising of Tom & Cameron. Not only will they aim to complete the distance challenge but they are also looking to do so in a course record time. The record currently sits at 1 hour 52 minutes and 6 seconds and has been unbroken for 14 years.....can they do it? Will you support them?

For some of the crews this is a fitness or even strength challenge but ultimately they all wish to support their rowing club to continue to grow and compete by raising funds for their boat appeal which was launched this week. We have been granted £10,800 by Sport England but in order to release it the club needs to raise a matched contribution of £10,800. This will enable the club to purchase two new double sculls, like the one Tom and Cameron are rowing, which are urgently needed to enable more people to get on the water.

Please help us to reach our target by supporting our rowers in their challenge.  Anything you can pledge is very much appreciated by us all.
