- The 14th February 2024 was a horrendous day for our family, we were faced with every parent’s worst nightmare. Our family dog suddenly attacked our son Emerson, causing the injuries you can see in the attached picture. Never in our wildest dreams did we think our own pet was capable of doing this to his best friend Emerson. Emerson is only 11 years old. He has just begun his journey at Formby High School, and plans to be a pilot. Emerson is an amazing kind and loving boy and like any parent we want to help as much as we can so he can realise his dreams.
Emerson's face was badly damaged in the attack, including the nerves in his jaw, as a result, and despite surgery he still wasn't able to move the right side of his face or close his right eye. He has been so brave throughout this horrible time and has luckily taken all the medical treatment in this stride.
As is often the case in testing times like this, we were very kindly offered a preliminary course of hyperbaric oxygen therapy for Emerson. The generosity of others stands out at testing times like these and this gesture was very kindly offered by the owners of Concordia in Liverpool City Centre. They gifted Emerson 5 therapy sessions, a fantastic gesture, we cannot thank them enough. We hadn’t heard of this treatment prior to our Son’s injuries, but, wow, we do now, we have been amazed with the results. After just 4 sessions Emerson is beginning to smile again. We are also pleased to report he has bravely returned to school, although his face is still wounded - he is the bravest child we know and we are very proud of him. After seeing the results after just 4 sessions, we are very keen to continue these amazing life changing treatment sessions but we need help to fund this therapy.Here is where we need help, hopefully your help? The cost of this therapy is in excess of 6k. Emerson's Step Dad, Ste, is determined to continue to support Emerson's treatment and will run in the Manchester half Marathon on Sunday 26th May 2024 to help support us so we can fund more hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
