LFE ACADEMY & CLUB is a grassroots football club located in East midlands in the inner city of Leicester, England. As a club, we strongly empower young people (16-19 years) through development of talent, well-being, as well as encouraging positive involvement in society. Our goal is to provide a positive and constructive learning environment for the youth to compete locally, regionally and internationally.
We started in 2018 as an extension to a foundation grassroots club located within the city (Carib ss Fc) with an aim to provide youth progression through education and sports however due to lack of funding and facilities we decided to make football/sports our main focus. We still provide educational advice and opportunities through attaching our players to external educational provisions where they study and train full-time.
Our programme supports young aspiring footballers who have either missed out on a chance to gain an apprenticeship at a professional football club or players who the scouting system has missed out on. We believe there isn’t any or a lot of support in place for players who do not secure an apprenticeship with a professional football club.
The club’s main ambition is to, encourage and promote youth well-being and continually strive to develop while playing the highest standard possible.
This project can be viewed as addressing the inefficient allocation of resources. To elaborate the England is blessed with talented footballers (Human Capital) such that there is a surplus of such talent. Countries on the continent have identified this. What LFE do is address this issue by acting providing further coaching for players who have been released from English football academies or any players that have not been to academies but have the potential to play football at a higher level. We have noticed that some players do not realise their full potential till they are fully matured which can be any age depending on the individual so we are there to provide that extra coaching and support for such players. Nurturing such players and encouraging them to express themselves freely. Developing players who are happy to express themselves on and off the field of play.
Arguably the amount of money invested into football is not efficiently allocated and the gap between grassroots and professional football academies has grown. LFE look to bridge this gap
In conclusion the club has built great links within the community due to the continued support and the variety of pathways we offer for youth. Securing funding will enable create more pathways for both players and coaches at the club. We welcome people from all walks of life both as players or volunteers.
