Welcome to Calon Tysul
We are a local leisure centre in the idyllic rural area of Llandysul, West Wales. We have a 25m heated pool, a gym and a large sports hall. We have a brilliant team and we offer sports and leisure services across all ages and levels of fitness.
Why are we crowdfunding?
Like all local leisure centres we aim to keep our prices low and services as accessible as we can manage. However this also means we generate very little spare money for investment and improvements. We are reaching out to the community to help us buy a set of graduated pool steps and pay for their installation.
Doing this will help so many of our users to access the swimming pool more easily and safely. Our current pool access steps meet safety regulations but they are difficult for users with mobility issues to use easily and we'd like to give those users greater independence and so encourage their continued participation in in exercise. We'd also like to make it much easier for many of our very young swim school members to get in and out of the pool too. Finally community feedback tells us that improving pool access sits very high on our users 'wish list'.
How we will spend the money we raise
The money we raise will be used to buy and install the new graduated pool steps. If we are lucky enough to raise more than we need, then any extra money will be used to buy pool equipment, that any users can borrow, or make further improvements around the pool itself.
How we benefit the local and wider community
Calon Tysul is one a of the few remaining heated 25m swimming pools in the local area. As such it is used not just by Llandysul residents but also people from most of the surrounding towns and villages. Many of of our users are elderly and a significant proportion have mobility issues. We want to ensure that we keep our facilities as physically accessible as possible, to help everyone maintain their mobility health and fitness.
How you can play your part
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
