Help Fund My Graduate Art Show!!
Hi, my name is Leonor Canelas de Castro! if you dont already know me, I am an international fine art student specialising in contemporary art. My practice explores key themes of technology and surveillance and it's impact on human identity. I’m currently preparing for my graduate show, which is one of the most important milestones in my artistic journey!
This exhibition is about showcasing my work and creating an immersive experience that reflects my research and artistic vision. However, producing an exhibition on an ambitious scale comes with significant costs.
For my fellow coursemates, friends and family: in return, I will gift you a personalised thank you card and possibly a sticker?! still undecided but at the very least you have my gratitude and an IOU pass at the ready! and you will get a special credit in the show itself!

Why It Matters
Graduate shows are a crucial launchpad for emerging artists. They provide exposure, professional experience, and the chance to connect with curators, galleries, and audiences. With your support, I can make this exhibition the best it can be!
Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference and is immensely appreciated!! <3 If you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser also helps immensely!
Where Your Donations Will Go
Your contributions will help cover:
- Materials & Production – Ensuring the work is fully realised with high-quality materials!
- Installation Costs – Transport, mounting, and display elements!
- Printing & Promotion – Flyers, documentation, and outreach
- Equipment Rental – Lights, cameras, and other essential tech
Specifics:
- building an installation space to hold the components (wood panels, building costs, paint, vinyl, decorative elements)
- Webcam, speakers, and monitor loan
- material for the mirror (Wood, Perspex, etc.)
The Project
My graduate project is an interactive, reflective space centred around a mirror embedded with a hidden camera and object identification technology. As viewers engage with their reflection, the system labels them with specific categories, challenging notions of identity and perception in digital spaces.
This work explores the tensions between selfhood and surveillance, questioning how technology categorises individuals and how these classifications shape our online identities. By transforming a familiar, personal act of looking in a mirror into an uncanny and dehumanising experience, the installation highlights the ways in which cyberspaces redefine and distort our sense of self.
