Govanhill Baths New Health & Wellbeing Centre

Dear Investors,

Our campaign is well underway and we have been overwhelmed by the response from you and all the other early investors to our Community Shares campaign. In just over a fortnight you joined over 130 other people investing in Govanhill Baths future and its redevelopment as a Health & Wellbeing Centre.

The local community have been with us every step; from 2001 and occupying the Baths to save them from demolition, to this moment when we are on the point of completing our journey and returning Govanhill Baths to true community ownership. This pioneering spirit has been reflected in our use of Community Shares to raise these funds. Together we are at the forefront of a model that could change the way community groups are funded and run.

Very few campaigns run to the four week timescale we had initially set our self and we are now extending ours until the 19th November to give us more time to continue reaching out for the support of organisations, groups and other people sympathetic with our work and campaign.

Our message that inspired the local community’s support is the same one we are sending to everyone. We are not asking for donations but for people to invest in a vital community asset, keeping it for future generations as a service used across the community. We know this project has importance not just for Govanhill but for all campaigns seeking to keep community assets in local hands.

• Tell everyone you know about your fantastic support of us and how they can join in.
• Remind them our Community Shares can be purchased by groups of people pooling their resources, by organisations, and can be purchased as gifts too.
