Square Peg Hull is a community arts organisation founded in January 2024, based in Hull & East Riding. Our team—Jemma Brown, Rachel Elm, and Leila Reeves—are practising artists and creative producers with over a decade of experience in the creative industries, specialising in equality, diversity, and inclusion. In 2024, Square Peg Community Arts Ltd delivered 62 workshops across Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, Skegness, and York. We curated and installed four exhibitions showcasing community-led projects, contributed to a National Archives talk on Ravenser Odd, and hosted two celebratory events marking the culmination of our projects. Throughout the year, we engaged 2,887 people.
Square Peg Hull is an arts organisation committed to disability access and real equity. We believe that all arts should be accessible, rather than treating disability arts as a separate category. Through our projects, we work to remove barriers, ensuring that disabled artists and audiences are fully included in creative spaces. Our work is built on consultation with communities, fostering meaningful participation and representation in the arts. Our projects are user-led, with participant voice at the centre of our activities.
Money raised from this crowdfounder and our Art Factory fundraiser on Saturday 19th April 2025 at the Pier St Gallery, Hull, will directly fund our ‘Got Something to Say’ programme of workshops for adult disabled artists. These workshops run fortnightly at Special Stars Foundation in Princes Quay, Hull. Please see our socials for more information. Many thanks, The Square Peg Team x
