We are Godfather Death: A Grimm’s Musical. An award winning new musical from Dundonian brothers Jack and Finlay Avison. We dropped DEAD with excitement when we found out our show had a slot to return to the Edinburgh Fringe this year and we’d really appreciate your help in getting us there!
We’re looking to raise £1500 to cover various Fringe-related costs (outlined below) so that as much of our box office income as possible can go towards paying our wonderful performers and team! Across our Spring tour, we have so far raised £585 - thank you so much to everyone who has donated!
THE SHOW
When, in pure desperation, a mother seeks a Godfather for her 13th child, Death takes her boy under their blackened wing and offers him a gift far greater than money - the power to tell whether someone will live or die. Eager to keep those he loves alive but tempted by the accompanying fame and fortune, Godfather Death: A Grimm’s Musical follows the boy’s encounters with the ill, the dying and death itself. Welcome to this darkly comic and gleefully macabre world, there are no Disney endings here…
Based on a little-known Grimm's fairytale, Godfather Death: A Grimm’s Musical is written by two Dundonian brothers, Jack and Finlay, and performed by an all-Scottish cast. It debuted at Edinburgh Fringe 2023 where it picked up the Offie for Musicals/Circus before enjoying a short Scottish tour.
Off-Fest Winner: Musicals/Circus at Edinburgh Fringe 2023

WHO WE ARE
We are two brothers, Jack and Finlay, who grew up together in Dundee. This show has been a gift that has allowed us to work together, collaborating on music, story, scripts and each bringing our own experience and passions. We are so proud of the show, how far it has come and of each other. It wasn’t too long ago we were discussing musical themes over the phone or editing scripts in our parents’ garden, dreaming of one day being able to perform the show on stage!
The fact that this project has grown to include a team of eight wonderful, young Scottish performers, writers, directors, producers and musicians, is a huge privilege. We are thrilled to have such a talented group involved, and we are incredibly passionate about showcasing original Scottish work and platforming emerging Scottish performers.
THE FUNDRAISER
We want to be transparent about what your donations will go towards. Everything you donate will go towards external costs to ensure that all our BO income goes to the cast and crew that have put so much into making this show possible.
£1000 would go towards COMMUTING COSTS for our performers to get to and from Edinburgh for our 15 shows plus a tech/get-in.
£300 would go towards our MARKETING CAMPAIGN including the essential printing of posters and flyers as well as print and digital marketing.
£200 would go towards investing in our DESIGN including set, props and lighting design consultation to ensure our show looks drop dead gorgeous!
We are an entirely self-funded show, and while the Fringe is a wonderful festival and we love taking part, it is a big financial gamble for everyone involved. Your donations directly help Scottish creatives looking to create art that we are passionate about and bring it to a worldwide audience!
Thank you so much, we appreciate any donation big or small!
