Everyone has the right to a pain-free life

CORE stands for the Centre for Osteopathic Research and Excellence. We set up our charity in 2017 with the goal to help people suffering with debilitating, chronic pain. Knowing how beneficial osteopathic treatment can be as a drug-free solution, we wanted to make high-quality osteopathy treatment accessible and affordable for all, while continuously researching drug-free alternatives to treat chronic pain and improve lives. 

Chronic pain is the biggest cause of disability worldwide and already we are seeing a huge increase in pain and disability since lockdown and the effects of COVID. Osteopathy is currently not freely available on the NHS so we wanted to do something to help people in pain, as well as ease pressure on local health services.

Everyone has the right to a pain-free life. This is our belief and the driving force behind our charity.

Why do we need your support?

Unlike most charities, we strive to be self-financing by hiring our beautiful hall out for weddings and photoshoots, as well as running wellness classes and complementary therapies — all of which were abruptly ended by the pandemic. 

• In the 1st lockdown we provided 245 free online consultations to help people manage their pain and discomfort whilst stuck at home. 
• Since reopening we have continued to help people suffering from pain, providing 96 free appointments to people suffering from pain, depression and anxiety, as well as long-covid symptoms. 
• We have seen an increase of patients this year coming to us in need of help who have either lost their jobs or are on reduced hours. Though we are struggling financially ourselves, our ethos that everybody deserves a pain-free life remains strong. We have provided over 2,000 concessionary appointments this year alone.

However, the longer this crisis persists, the less sustainable this has been and the more uncertain the future of our charity is. This is why we need your support.

The health and safety of our patients and our community is our priority and we are slowly opening our centre whilst adhering to social distancing rules.
