As the autumn weather heads in the nights are getting darker, colder and much wetter.
Those living in the streets have to face the windy elements without the luxury of a roof to keep them out of the wind which can kill anyone's morale.
As the cost of living crisis set's in LilyAnne's Wellbeing has seen a huge surge in the demand for people who are living on the streets and need support.
The main reasons for the surge in homelessness is not because of drug and alcohol abuse, it is everyday working people who are suffering as a result of the cost of living crisis.
People who have been unable to keep on track of bills and the cost of keeping a roof over their heads.
People who hold down full-time jobs and are simply struggling and have it rock bottom and need a little lift back up.
Locally there is a huge problem with move-on properties and other places just not suitable for anyone to live.
Within Hartlepool we are seeing a huge surge in people who are living on the streets because the cost of running their own home has become to much, while we support them back into accommodation we provide people with the basics to get them through until we are able to help them get a set of keys in their hands.
When someone comes into LilyAnne's Well-being depending on the weather we offer the following
- A sleeping bag
- Clean underwear
- Clean socks
- Clothing
- A hygiene pack
- Access to a mobile phone & data.
- Access to a tablet computer.
- Hot Drinks and Food
- A Tent
Due to the cost of living crisis, we have seen a huge surge in the people we are supporting and are on average hiding out 1 homeless pack a day. We are raising money to buy these items and re-stock our storage with new items to continue this support.
This is why we have launched our Give A Tent For Christmas Campaign to help keep our homeless community as warm as we can this winter while we help find accommodation.
But once they are housed our support doesn't stop as we start to tackle the feelings of loneliness and mental health.
