We exist to strengthen existing support services to ensure trans-inclusion is included in all areas and at all stages of life.

Gender Identity Research and Education Society (GIRES) is a UK charity with nearly 30 years of impact, advancing trans rights through evidence-based research, education, and advocacy. As a national hub for research-informed training, GIRES empowers professionals, educators, organisations, and individuals with the tools to create inclusive environments for trans and gender diverse people.
Our resources are used by the NHS, schools, local authorities, and major employers. We’ve contributed to policy change, improved healthcare guidance, and helped thousands of families and individuals access respectful support.
GIRES combines lived experience with academic rigour — and remains proudly intersectional, independent, and community-rooted.
We are here to educate, equip, and drive change — so everyone can live with dignity, safety, and pride.
