We're still collecting donations
On the 10th August 2021 we'd raised £10 with 1 supporters in 35 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
The aim of our project is to get our brand back on it's feet, as well as our community. We want to give back to our family and community.

The Slik was founded by myself and my sister back in March 2021. With a deep passion and belief in what our brand stands for, we both quit our jobs to pursue our business full time. We use our platform to support our family and our community, but with the hardships that the pandemic has brought with it, we now need your support so we can continue supporting those we love.
Who Are We?
The Slik was founded by two sisters, Rachelle and Joelle. After endless research, trials and testing, we can confidently say that the benefits of switching to silk are endless. In launching The Slik, our mission was to create more awareness of the health, wellbeing and environmental benefits that silk has vs cotton. The Slik was also founded on the basis that we wanted to offer our customers the luxury of silk at an affordable price.
Over the course of a year, we’ve trialed and tested almost every kind of silk there is out there. From thickness, to softness, to thread count, and most importantly, for the benefits we reaped. That is why we can confidently say that once you try The Slik you won’t go back.
The Slik products have shown to improve or calm sensitive skin conditions due to the temperature regulating properties found within our 22 momme Mulberry silk. The Slik products also help you retain moisture in your skin as you sleep, meaning you’ll start seeing a noticeable difference.
The properties within our pillow cases, scrunchies and head band help to reduce hair from tangling as you sleep as well as friction.
As well as offering you the best there is in silk, we’re also committed to giving you the why and how behind it all.
The Slik helps support family and community members who have become dependent on us now more than ever.
Sustainability
Silk is both a biodegradable and a sustainable natural fiber, making it a great product to invest into. The benefits ranges both for our wellbeing and for the wellbeing of our environment. Silk is derived from Mulberry trees which sustain most silkworms, meaning they require less pesticides or fertilizers, therefore require less water usage than cotton. Being a natural fiber, silk is composed of only two natural proteins, sericin and fibroin. If only the ingredients list on everything we bought was that simple.
Another massive bonus is that the manufacturing of silk has a very low carbon footprint. The chemical process involved in silk production has a far lower impact compared to that used in synthetics or conventional cotton production. Silk also requires low impact dyes, which contributes to reducing the environmental impact of the process of fabric coloring.
Last but not least, silk is highly durable. These are some of the strongest natural textile fibers globally, capable of withstanding most accidental damage easily. Bedding-ware made with mulberry silk can easily last over fifteen to twenty years when you care for them properly. This means less of our natural resources are used in production.
Sustainability and conscience shopping is at the heart of what we do here at The Slik. Our packaging is also all recyclable. All of our products are OEKO-TEX certified.
Benefits
Silk is a natural protein fiber consisting of only sericin and fibroin and contains 18 amino acids, one of which speeds up the metabolism of skin cells. It’s also a breathable fabric and therefore is a natural temperature regulator. The luxurious, smooth and cool feel makes it ideal for those with sensitive skin.
Unlike other fabrics, such as cotton, silk promotes proper moisture balance and therefore does not draw any moisture from your skin or hair. Meaning, you’ll wake up with your hair feeling extremely moisturized and resulting in healthier hair.
Studies have shown that sleeping on a cotton pillowcase means you are prone to get wrinkles, yes, while you sleep! Switching to a silk pillowcase will eliminate that and you can literally get some beauty sleep.
Also, sleeping on a silk pillowcase can do wonders for your hair. It can prevent tangling and therefore breakage, which with time you’ll notice the difference without a doubt!
