Tamara Astor is fundraising for South London Refugee Association Charity No. 1102814
£870
This summer holidays, we would love to take clients of South London Refugee Association - with their children - for a day at the beach in Margate. We took 50 people last year and had such a wonderful time. It was truly uplifting for all involved, hearing the children’s squeals of excitement as we rounded the corner for our first glimpses of the sea before spilling out onto the sands for a day of relaxation and joy. We had a sandcastle building competition, ate a delicious picnic including ice creams, paddled, played games and families had a valuable day of escapism and fun together. All our clients are facing the dreadful everyday effects of the hostile environment policy, which grind people down, and are extremely detrimental to mental health. We aim to combat these effects through all our services including immigration casework and Community Leaders' programmes. The organisation also recognises the importance of respite. The annual beach trip is a joyful experience, the likes of which builds vital resilience and energy. In order for it to happen this year, we need to raise £850 for the coach to get us to Margate and back. We would so very much appreciate any contribution you could offer.
The video is a funny little moment from our last year's trip!
