This is my fifth time of standing for public office. Two previous occasions as a local councilor (one successful) and this, my third attempt as a Parliamentary candidate.
It has always been difficult to put myself forward because I have stood in direct opposition to the main two parties. During their 100 years of government, both Conservatives and Labour have built up a significant network of activists willing to volunteer in order to reach the 80,000 residents, in 30,000 homes (Romford Constituency). Given the meager resources at my disposal, this challenge was never going to be met, despite the goodwill of a few hardy souls shouldering the burden of posting (by hand) so many leaflets.
During all my campaigns I have I have endeavored to reach as many people as possible. Walking the streets, holding local stalls and designing and posting leaflets. This time I truly feel there is a yearning to listen to something new. A message based on common sense which reflects the thoughts, aspirations, needs and wishes of the majority.
To do this, I need to reach the electorate. The use of a wider ad campaign which includes bus stops, buses, posters, hoardings and mobile hoardings...will cost a lot of money. After so many campaigns and now fully retired, I cannot afford to commit to such a campaign. Failure to get our message across, failure to reach the electorate, failure to win, means another five years of political incomitance which may well result in the end of our way of life. I know that sounds drastic but I believe it to be true. Mass immigration, wasteful spending and a tax system that makes living on benefits a way of life...have to be stopped.
I know for many, financial constraints will make it impossible to help but I can assure you, a message of support will be equally important to know you agree with my quest.
