To help raise the funds needed to take Janner Radio onto the Plymouth Digital Radio Network.

by Omnium Radio CIC in Plymouth, United Kingdom

We're still collecting donations

On the 13th November 2023 we'd raised £665 with 7 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

Born from Omnium Radio CIC (established 2018) which is an internet based radio station that helps those with disabilities, additional needs and poor mental health, Janner Radio was launched on 1st May to help expand the horizons of this community project and get Plymouth its own LOCAL, unique and independent radio station back on the airwaves across the city once again.

Omnium Radio CIC & Janner Radio are currently run by voluntary members, which means all our presenter give up their time to produce and deliver top quality shows to LIVE audiences whilst also contributing to general behind the scenes administration to keep the station flowing smoothly.

Currently Janner Radio is internet based and ready to join with DAB with your help.

What is D.A.B?
DAB stands for Digital Audio Broadcasting. DAB is the new FM which allows you to listen from most modern digital radios produced after 2006, which includes devices such as car stereos, home radios and smart speakers.

Why do we need your help?
Omnium Radio CIC needs to raise at least £2,000 in order to achieve this goal of adding Janner Radio to the Digital network and give you the local radio station you deserve with local news, an eclectic mix of music, travel updates and much more.

These finances will go towards the relevant licences needed to move from the internet to the Digital network such as:

- DAB Broadcasting Signal Rental. (The signal that is sent to your radios / devices)
- The PPL & PRS Licence for DAB Broadcasting. (Ensuring musicians are paid for their music)
-Ofcom Registration & Licencing (Meaning we stay within the local broadcasting laws).

Who will benefit from this transition?
Local Music: Promoting local music & venues by delivering a weekly gig guide and show designated to LIVE music.

Local community & charitable organisations: We will be inviting local organisation and guest speakers to appear on shows to talk about their projects, upcoming fundraisers and general information of interest to the public.

Commuters: by providing hourly traffic and travel updates.

The General Listeners: engaging with the community through outside broadcasting events, supporting local events via onsite broadcasting, and engaging the community with our LIVE request feed, giving that personal touch to the music.

Local Businesses: working with local businesses by providing a platform offering promotional opportunities and enabling a wider community reach.

Education:  collaborating with local schools, colleges and other higher education to provide vital work experience for those studying within industry.

The Volunteers: by transitioning from internet radio to DAB our volunteers will gain a wider audience enabling them to grow in confidence and feel proud about their time on air.

Time Scale:
Once we have raised the £2000 we will begin the process of moving from an Internet based radio station to DAB, This can take up to 3 - 6 months but our aim is to be launched by Autumn 2023 and latest by January 2024.

Regular updates on this will be announced via our social media platforms.
