Gellions is part of a national initiative launched by Music Venues Trust to ensure live music venues survive the current crisis.
Live Scottish music is incredibly important to our culture and tradition here in the Scottish Highlands. But without the survival of music venues there is no way to pass on that tradition of live music to visitors, residents and future generations. We are The Gellions, the oldest licensed premises in Inverness (trading since 1841) and the only venue in the World to feature over 600 live Scottish music performances a year.
Why are we crowdfunding?
Our unique music venue is now at risk after nearly 200 years of trading because of the global Covid pandemic.
Your donations will be used to help pay for the many thousands of pounds a month in costs it takes to keep a venue like this afloat during our year of virtually no income, and most importantly, guarantee that in future we are still here to provide vital regular employment to our wonderful staff and the many dozens of incredibly talented Highlands based Scottish Traditional Musicians we feature every year.
REWARDS
Music Venue Trust have created Save Our Venues Merchandise including T-Shirts, Face Masks, Snoods and more which can be chosen as a reward for a donation to our CrowdFunder.

About Save Our Venues - The Red List
During the last 8 months, Music Venue Trust and Crowdfunder have worked together to prevent the closure of hundreds of grassroots music venues. With no end to the crisis in sight, we are now refocusing that work to spotlight those venues most critical and at risk. The #SaveOurVenues Red List highlights those grassroots music venues.
Right now...
We’ve checked all the available funding, financial support, furlough schemes, business support for these venues, and what is on offer is not enough to guarantee their future. These 30 venues are on the Critical List and need your help.
Venues like Gellions play a crucial role in the development of Scottish music, nurturing local talent, providing a platform for artists to build their careers and develop their music and their performance skills. These venues also play a vital role in the cultural and economic vibrancy of Scotland.
