To raise awareness of GBS disease and find a way to cope through the long recovery.

by Jennifer Mills in London, England, United Kingdom

On April 15th my partner was taken into A and E as a simple achey infection that escalated into pins and needles in the hand and feet and the loss of any strength in his legs as well as severe pain in his back and arms.

After tests over 24 hours it transpired he had 'Guillian Barrés Syndrome' A lesser known condition outside of the medical world.

It follows a milder infection of some kind with your bodys immune system attacking the nervous system.

72 hours later he was paralysed.

Even the nerves in his face and his breathing was affected.

It will take him months to recover.

I have had to be the bedside support from the moment the vicious Syndrome kicked in and we were plunged into a situation were niether of us could get to work.

He has nobody but myself to be there to help him through this bizarre thing.

My crowdfund is simply to appeal for a donation to help me through at least the worst of it that we have been enduring these last few weeks and the weeks ahead.

My portion of rent and simple necessities have now become impossible to afford.

Any care allowance is a long  winded long process, I may not be eligible at all.

For each £10 pledged I will gift a card size signed print of my work aptly titled "Patient".

Simply add your postal address in either a private message or via Crowdfunder.

It's a little charcoal and acrylic piece of a little Sooty Tern Chick waiting in the wilderness for its parents to return with food.

It will take a lot of stoic strength, physio and indeed patience for him to get through the next few months of recovery. He is still in hospital fighting the syndrome and completely unable to walk.

It's a time to be strong, Patient and creative with how I can cope financially through this.

Thankyou for any support.
