This year, I decided that I'm going to achieve my dreams... or at least make active steps towards them!
When I was little, I loved asking people about their careers and comparing them to what they wanted to be when they were younger. I was so disappointed by how many adults had given up on their aspirations.
I promised myself that would never be me.
But then I grew up, experienced so much, and realised that life has a way of suppressing you into submission—giving up your happiness in exchange for stability, the approval of others, or simply because you can't afford to pursue your dreams.
Lack of emotional support isn’t something I struggle with, but asking for help is. I've always had a mindset of "I can do it all alone" because I watched my mother do just that in circumstances I couldn't even imagine myself being in. But I’ve come to realise that life doesn’t have to be that difficult, especially if there are people who say they care about you. You have to allow them the opportunity to show up for you.
So… this is me reaching out.
I applied to Identity School of Acting… and I got accepted! I was so overjoyed when I found out today. But that joy quickly faded when I realised how much I need, and how quickly I need to raise it... The course starts in 2 weeks.
It’s a fantastic school with an OUTSTANDING alumni and reputation—actors like John Boyega, Damson Idris, and Letitia Wright, to name a few.
Each term costs £800, with two terms per course (£1,600). The first course is the Freshers Programme, similar to a foundation year, and then there's a tiered system. In order to get official training recognition and be eligible for a Spotlight profile, I need to attend for at least two years—roughly six terms (£4,800) or more.
So that’s what I’m asking for.
I understand that times are difficult—truly. That’s why I decided to raise money this way instead of asking individually. But if I didn’t need the help, I wouldn’t ask.
