We created the Sunflowers and Choughs project to integrate Ukrainians into the local community, uniting both communities by highlighting common ideas and values. We also maintain a Facebook page where we talk about culture, history, learning English and Ukrainian, mental health and wellbeing, and self-development. https://www.facebook.com/SunflowersChoughs
During this period, we have also organized 16 entertainment events of various scales, attended by about 1,000 people, both Ukrainians and Cornish residents. Thanks to these events, we managed to raise about £8,000 for the needs of the army and support for Ukraine, with all reports published on our Facebook page.
For this moment we bought five evacuation cars, two ambulances cars together with outreach paramedics, generator and starlink for aeronautics, heaters and essential items for the military, blankets for hospitals, toys for children of military orphans.
Our new goal is to purchase an anti-drone electronic warfare system for one of the hottest sectors of the southern front in Ukraine. Right now, the advantage goes to those who can quickly master the latest drone technology, and survival depends on being able to defend against them. Unfortunately, we are not leading in the first case. So, we aim to be among those who excel in protective equipment. The demand for such defense systems is extremely high, and there are waiting lists several months long with manufacturers. However, we are fortunate; thanks to our volunteer connections, we will be able to obtain an anti-drone system by the end of September, and we hope to raise the necessary funds by then.
