Aim: To ensure that everyone can enjoy services and social events St. John’s offers regardless of physical ability.
On behalf of St. John’s Church, we seek everyones generous support in helping to raise funds for an important project: The construction of disabled access to St John's Church.
St. John’s Church has been a cornerstone of the Failsworth community, welcoming people from all walks of life. However, we recognize that for some members of the community and visitors, access to the church is currently very challenging. To ensure that everyone can enjoy the services and events St. John’s offers, we are committed to helping make the necessary improvements to provide safe and fully accessible disabled access.
Since June 2024, the church has been raising money by holding a variety of events such as family fun days, raffles, sponsored walks, pop choirs, and creativity workshops, however, the funds raised so far fall significantly short of covering the costs needed for the necessary building work.
The total cost of the work is estimated at £70,000, and we are actively seeking donations from kind individuals and organisations to help us meet this goal.
One of the key fundraising efforts will be a Portuguese pilgrimage walk planned for April 2025, with Failsworth Walking Group.
The Camino de Santiago Route offers both a cultural and physical challenge. Over the course of a week, we will be walking between 10 to 26 miles daily to raise awareness and generate the funds needed for this important cause, covering 96 miles during Holy week.
We kindly ask if you would consider making a donation to support this vital initiative. Your contribution, no matter the size, will have a lasting impact on the accessibility and inclusivity of St. John’s Church ensuring it remains a welcoming space for everyone in the Failsworth community.
Thank you for considering this request. Your support means the world to us and will help ensure that St. John’s Church can be enjoyed by all, regardless of physical ability.
Thank you.
