On Thursday 4th April Newark Orchard School was victim to an attack of mindless vandalism. The perpetrators scaled the fence and vandalised 3 of our mini buses that are relied on to transport children with special educational needs to support learning and go on school trips. A school vehicle was also badly damaged this was used for pupils learning about road safety and travel training. It is thought that this vehicle is so badly damaged that this is going to be written off!
Newark Orchard School has 170 pupils with special educational needs and relies on the buses that were damaged to support the learning of its pupils and go on school trips. It also relies on the vehicle that was damaged to support the children's learning of a valuable travel training programme. With the support of your money we will be able to fund the repairs to the busses. Sadly the travel training vehicle was so badly damaged it had to be written off. We are hoping to replace this if we raise enough money. I know the school already had a school trip arranged that they were going to use the buses for, sadly this is not going to be possible and now the school charity are looking at funding coach travel. This will be at substantial cost to the charity that could have been spent on school resources for the children if the vandals had not attacked our vehicles. As you can see the school is hugely out of pocket with some massive repair and replacement bills and other costs.
