Aim: To Help Fund Functional Skills Exams for Children Who Need a Second Chance Because Every Child Deserves the Opportunity to Succeed
Our Story: Empowering Young Learners, One Exam at a Time
I’m Lotti, the founder of North Star Learning Hub CIC, an education-focused social enterprise dedicated to helping children and young people who have struggled in traditional education find a path forward. As a former teacher, I’ve worked with many children who, for various reasons have missed out on achieving key qualifications.
For these young people, Functional Skills exams in Maths and English offer a second chance. These qualifications can open doors to further education, apprenticeships, and employment. But many families, particularly those facing financial hardship, simply can’t afford the exam fees, leaving their children without this vital opportunity. That’s why we are launching this campaign—to ensure that no child is left behind due to financial barriers.
Who We Are & What We Do
At North Star Learning Hub CIC, we provide specialist tuition, mentoring, and emotional support to children who have lost confidence in learning. We work with:
✅ Children who have been out of school due to anxiety, SEN, or other challenges.
✅ Home-educated children needing formal qualifications.
✅ Young people who have faced exclusion or school refusal.
Our team includes experienced educators and mentors who understand the challenges these young people face. We tailor our approach to each child’s needs, helping them rebuild their confidence, develop essential skills, and prepare for their exams in a supportive, pressure-free way.
How We’ll Use the Money
Every penny raised will go directly towards funding Functional Skills exams for young people who cannot afford them. Here's how your donations will help:
📚 £40 – Covers the cost of a 1:1 tuition session.
📖 £200 – Fully funds a Maths or English exam.
📑 £300+ – Provides full exam funding plus tuition support for a child who needs extra help.
