Back in 2024 I left my employment to embark on studying to be a paramedic. This is a second degree for me and as such has limited funding. I successfully got a new job working in the care sector and begin this at the same time as my degree.
Only a few weeks into my degree I was due my first wage from work. The company didn't pay me. Since this date I have been locked in a battle to receive the money owed. Last month I received a letter from my old employer stating they had over paid me and now require nearly £8000 in funds back.
Although I have new employment this has been a long and drawn out process, which means I've not earnt during this time.
My fees were due on the 28th of April and due to everything that has gone on I haven't been able to raise the money.
I requested to pay monthly but the university have refused as its something they don't allow anymore.
This job means the world to me and I've been fighting everyday to be on this course - I'm a mature student, alternative and different and due to this have to fight to stay in this position.
I have turned everywhere, asking for guarantors for loans, bursaries and support. All have been exhausted or the door closed. My fees are £2866.66 and this is my last resort to achieve this goal.
By the 25th of May the university cut off all access to learning, by the 7th of June I'm removed from the course permanently and charged for the fees due. I'm also blacklisted from the university if this happens.
I dont want to be in this position. Life has delay a cruel hand and I can't see a way out. I've already sold everything I owned to be here. But this one fee is going to wipe out my chance to do a job with valued meaning.
