Crowdfunder is making it 100% free for community and charity crowdfunding projects during the corona virus crisis. The Covid-19 epidemic could affect millions of people in the next few weeks.

These are unprecedented times but together, we are stronger, and the response is coming from communities across the country.

Volunteer groups are springing up to tackle the logistical problems faced in our communities – but they need urgent support. That's where we come in.

********* ****************************************************************

It is times like this that communities need to pull together. Knowing our care homes are in desperate need of PPE we wanted to do something to help, we have managed to find a supplier of surgical face masks that sell in bulk and have stock. Due to the urgency and time sensitive nature, an order for 1250 masks has been placed at a cost of £980.40 this works out at 78p per mask.

Although suppliers have contacted the government and made them aware of the availability of the masks, no one from the government has been in contact. The care homes themselves are unable to order direct, but they are able to accept donations of suitable equipment. Meanwhile care workers are heading to work each day without PPE, potentially exposing vulnerable patients as well as their own families when they return home. This is simply unacceptable.

We contacted a number of care homes and the following have said they need masks and would accept donations. They are:

1. Beech House, Brownlow Bend, Basildon

2. Chaplin Lodge, Nevendon Rd, Wickford

3. Gyhllgrove Nursing Home, Ghyllgrove, Basildon

4. St Lukes Hospice, Basildon

5. Gifford House care home, Bowers Gifford

They will be getting a share of our first order, we will be ringing more homes over the next few days so we will add to our list as and when we know who needs them. If you know of any care homes in the Essex area that need masks, then let us know and we can add them to the list.

Any donation is going to be a massive help, its so sad that carers are having to go to work every day not knowing if they are going to have the correct PPE. Can you imagine coming home from work knowing you could be putting your own families lives in danger?

This is why we want to help, so please if you can spare any money please donate and share the page.

Stay home, save lives.
