Funding the wages of our part-time worker to help make all our work possible.

Thank you for donating to Fuel Poverty Action!

Thank you, for your part in making our fundraising campaign this autumn/winter a resounding success!  As energy prices soar and the climate crisis accelerates, FPA is shifting up a gear. Our website will give you an idea of some of what we’ve been up to - the winter deaths protest organised together with the National Pensioners Convention, the letter to Alok Sharma at COP26 demanding a windfall tax on the extra-high profits of oil corporations, and our action in support of people in the north left without power after Storm Arwen. We could not have done all this without our part time worker, Maddy, and your contribution - large (thank you!) or small (thank you again!) - helped to secure her job. The final total of £4,565 did not meet our target but was a really good start for our first Crowdfunder ever, and will cover a good 30 weeks of Maddy’s part time work.

We have also been successful in securing more support from trade unions, with an affiliation and substantial donations from PCS, Ipswich and District TUC, with more in the pipeline  – again, many thanks!

You’ll be glad to know that finally, and suddenly, as the crowdfunder came to an end, we received one unexpected mega-donation of £20,000 from Necessity. We had applied to them before, and had been unsuccessful, but the urgent need for action on fuel poverty led to this life-saving sum.

In combination, these sums not only secure our immediate future but will make it possible for us to pay for another part time worker, and ramp up our work to a level a little more commensurate with the demands that pour in every day. They still won’t allow for an office, a work team, and all the trimmings that ease the way for established NGOs to make an impact. But then, we have always punched above our weight!

The next period will require some intense internal work to get ready for this next phase of FPA – just as we anticipate yet further price rises this coming April.

We very much value your donation and your continued support. If you’d like to get involved in other ways, do let us know!  The first step - if you’re not there already - is to join our mailing list for coming events and major notices. Auto-join the list by emailing [email protected]
