Raising £200 for our student film. At a care home, four characters come together to create a renewed sense of a home.

by Peggy Riga in Harrow, Greater London, United Kingdom

JJ has just reluctantly arrived at a care home- his new 'forever' home. Can he remain solitary in an environment where human connections are fundamental?

The film explores how we navigate our young-hearted identity as we grow old. A heartfelt story about togetherness and how we brave the vastness of life through the little moments that make it beautiful.

We need your help:

The University of Westminster has generously allocated a budget of £200, along with industry-standard equipment. However, to bring our story to life, we need your support. Additional funding is crucial for the following:

  • Covering food and transport for our cast: Our talented 5-member cast, who are volunteering their time and effort, are traveling from various parts of the UK. We aim to cover their food and transportation expenses as the only way to show appreciation for their dedication.
  • Equipment transport: We need large vehicles to ensure the safe transportation of our equipment.
  • Securing locations: Authentic care home environments are essential for our story, but accessing working care homes is not feasible due to practical and ethical concerns. As a solution, we plan to rent a community hall, a garden, a car park, and a bedroom to replicate the necessary settings for filming.
  • Production design: Accurate set design and props are crucial to create an authentic portrayal of a care home. Since we are unable to film in real care homes, we will rely on meticulous production design to faithfully recreate the look and feel of such environments.

With your support, we will be able to deliver a film that is not only visually compelling but also respectful and true to the lived experiences of those in care homes.

Our team consists of passionate filmmakers committed to using their skills and creativity to bring this story to life. We have secured our main cast and are working closely with them to ensure powerful and moving performances. We believe that stories like ours are often overlooked in the media or portray older people merely as "older." We've infused our characters with depth and emotion, and our goal is to showcase the invaluable role older communities play in society.

In addition, we offer special perks to express our gratitude for your generosity and trust in us—be sure to explore them!

We are truly thankful for your consideration and for any support you can offer.
