We want to update the Children’s Section of Woodbridge Library
and we need your help!
A love of reading carries a child through school and into life, opening doors of internal enjoyment as well as education and employment. We want to give the young readers of Woodbridge a great place to get their love of reading started!
Our Children’s section is a busy place. There is something for all ages: Baby Bounce, Tot Rock, Play Rhyme and Storytime, and Stay and Play which includes parents. We also offer a Storytime for older children as well as weekend Craft sessions. In addition to these we host one off events, such as the hugely successful STEM in October 2022 (hundreds of children attended) and our annual Summer Reading Challenge, (completed by ~150 children). We regularly host school visits: Melton Primary, Kyson Primary and Woodbridge School Prep have all attended in the past 6 months.
Now over 13 years old, the children’s section has begun to show wear from the high traffic it sees. Redesigning the Children’s section will make it even more welcoming and inviting.
Our design includes a cosy reading nook, and display shelves which show the cover of the book - much more tempting to a young reader. There will also be rolling book boxes so the section can be adapted for special events and the artwork will reflect Woodbridge’s nautical heritage while being cheerful and youthful. Check out the photos!
The redesign will cost £20,000. This covers new shelving and seating units, new carpet and re-decoration. FOWL (Friends of Woodbridge Library) efforts have raised £13,000 so far. Please help us reach our goal. All contributions are greatly appreciated. Click on the link to donate. If you have further questions please contact Library Manager Helen Scrivener on 01394 330855.
