About the Friends of Tiffin Music (FoTM)
Some studies suggest that independent school fees have risen by more than 500% since the 1990s. At the same time, the government requires state schools to educate children for a small (and ever-decreasing) fraction of this cost.
For years, musicians at Tiffin School have outperformed musicians at many independent schools. Tiffin musicians are regularly invited to work with London’s major orchestras and choruses, including the LSO, Philharmonia and Royal Opera, performing at venues including the RAH, RFH and Barbican. Last year they appeared on national radio and on television (BBC, ITV and Classic FM), and have performed on tour in Europe, China and Australasia. A remarkable number of Tiffin pupils receive music scholarships to study at top universities, including Cambridge and Oxford.
This success reflects the ambition and dedication of these pupils, their parents, and staff. To be the best requires all parties to go the extra mile.
At FoTM our aim is for Tiffin pupils to continue to benefit from these exceptional opportunities. Opportunities like these encourage pupils to look beyond narrow horizons, show them that the once impossible can be made possible, and encourage pupils to imagine, set and strive for ever higher goals.
As a result the Friends of Tiffin Music (FOTM) exists to raise funds to provide additional financial support to the music department at Tiffin School so pupils continue to have access to exceptional musical opportunities and all the benefits this brings.
