At Friends of the Dart we take a collaborative and evidenced based approach to achieving long term progressive change to pollution issues. Over the last two years we have gone from strength to strength gathering a wonderful community of River lovers as we go.
Having achieved defra designated testing at four sites and a further three community designated sites on the river with a massive amount of community, business and stakeholder support, we are now utilising other levers for change including testing River Dart for harmful bacteria in 7 locations and building up accurate and evidenced based information about problem spots and pollution. This means that we can hold polluters to account and progress resolution as well as keep those who love the river informed and safe. We aim to ensure that waters are clean and free of faecal matter, toxic bacteria and chemicals so that River health and bio diversity can thrive. The health of our rivers is inextricably linked to our own health.
To help cover the cost of testing the Friends of the Dart team are raising sponsorship by canoeing from Stoke Gabriel to Dittisham, returning in the dark. This forms a part of our crowdfunding campaign to cover the cost of testing. Please donate and share with other river lovers.
