FRIENDS OF CONAKRY REFUGEE SCHOOL

RCN 1124736, Church Stretton

FCRS financially supports Conakry Refugee School in Guinea, one of the poorest African countries. The school would almost certainly be forced to close without this support. They receive no government support. Their only income comes from student fees, which have to be very low because the students are very poor. Yet, many are unable to pay. Education is their only hope for a better life.

Supporting girls education

We have installed has wash facilities on every floor and fund the employment of a school nurse who support girls in remaining in school when the majority of Guinean girls drop out post puberty. We fund a health club that  teaches boys and girls  about sexual health and girls' rights as young women in Guinea society. We provide every female student with a re-useable menstrual health kit when they start their periods and attend workshops on menstrual hygiene.
