I left Sudan over 14 years ago and settled in the UK 12 years ago, after fleeing the war. I thought to take my wife and children back to Dafour to meet the family.
I was shocked to see the state of my homelands and the state of the drinking water people were using to drink. Within days of arriving there I became ill and thought I would die.
I saw my children ( 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter) become seriously ill and at one stage I thought my daughter would die. We rushed her to the capital and luckily I could afford the medication to save her life.
Others were not fortunate enough to survive as I witnessed the people around were becoming ill and dying. No access to fresh water, no access to hospital and medication is killing 100s of people and children.
Upon my return to London we were all admitted to hospital and treated fir Cholerae.
This has given me the motivation and passion to buy the water drill and return to Dafour to help the poor and children to access fresh drinking water.
