We are looking to supply homemade soup on a weekly basis to vulnerable people throughout the Coronavirus pandemic.

 New stretch target

Funding will go towards supplying essential supplies to those most vulnerable throughout the coronavirus pandemic. At least as important as the soup itself, people in self isolation, see a friendly face dropping off something for them. They are not forgotten about. Social distancing prevents a close conversation but a wave and a hello can be just as important. With more funding we can deliver more soup to more people & also deliver more than just soup. We would love to supply subsidised essential shopping bags & Fish & Chips. We would also be a contact for vulnerable people throughout the crisis.

My name is Scott Mackie and I run a pub & restaurant called the Golden Pheasant in Auchinloch. I am working alongside Stewart Maxwell, manager of Rob Roy FC in Kirkintilloch, & a number of volunteers from Auchinloch. We have been producing and delivering soup on a weekly basis for the elderly residents of the village. This has been well received. We would love to role this programme out a little further and offer homemade soup to a bigger area & to more vulnerable people in the community. Funding could make this possible. Moreover, through funding, as well as soup, we would like to do more. Firstly, we would like to offer Essential shopping bags for delivery. This will incorporate basics such as milk, bread, eggs, fresh fruit & antibacterial soap. It is not a weekly shop but it should mean one less, potentially life threatening, trip to the shops for those most vulnerable. Secondly, we would like to offer a Friday night treat of Fish & Chips to those involved in the programme. Funding will go towards subsidising the cost of the soup, the essential shopping bags & the Fish & Chips delivery. The areas we would like to expand the programme to would be Auchinloch (already up and running), Lenzie, Kirkintilloch, Milton of Campsie & Stepps. Hope you can help!
