Aim: Health & Fitness: Encourage regular physical activity in a welcoming environment in the park for 20 weeks, free for participants who join.
My name is Leah I’m a fitness instructor and Pilates instructor and personal training and also Exercise referral instructor. I work with Better and Ourparks.
In response to the growing need for accessible fitness opportunities in Leyton, we propose to bring back free exercise classes once a week at Leyton Jubilee Park. Our goal is to create a supportive community environment where individuals of all fitness levels can participate in engaging and effective workouts.
Project Overview
• Class Type: LIIT (Low-Intensity Interval Training) whole-body exercise
• Duration: 20 weeks
• Frequency: Every Sunday
• Time: 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM
• Location: Leyton Jubilee Park
• Target Audience: All members of the Leyton community, regardless of fitness level
Objectives
1. Promote Health and Fitness: Encourage regular physical activity in a welcoming environment.
2. Build Community: Foster relationships among participants and create a supportive network.
3. Accessibility: Provide free classes to eliminate financial barriers to fitness.
4. Sustainability: Encourage voluntary donations to support ongoing classes.
Implementation Plan
1. Class Structure: Each session will focus on bodyweight exercises targeting all major muscle groups, suitable for participants of varying fitness levels. Classes will incorporate warm-up, workout, and cool-down phases.
2. Funding: While the classes will be free, we will encourage participants to make voluntary donations to support the continuation of the program. This funding will be used for paying the council to use the park and also myself at a low rate.
3. Instructor: Engage a certified fitness instructor with experience in LIIT and community engagement to lead the classes.
Expected Outcomes
• Increased participation in regular physical activity among community members.
• Enhanced social connections and community spirit in Leyton.
• A sustainable model for ongoing free fitness classes through community support and donations.
