My name is Nicolia Nanayakkara, and I’m a lecturer in the United Kingdom with over eight years of teaching experience in Accounting and Economics in Sri Lanka. As education costs continue to rise, especially in Sri Lanka and other Asian countries, many students are struggling to access essential academic resources. Subjects like Accounting and Economics, which require strong foundational understanding, are becoming increasingly difficult for students due to these financial barriers.
Over the past few years, I’ve been offering free classes on a smaller scale to help bridge this gap. However, the demand is growing, and more students need support than I can currently reach alone. To extend this educational lifeline to more students, I’ve planned a project to provide structured, free group classes in Accounting and Economics starting this January.
This initiative will include four two-hour sessions per level for both O-level and A-level students. Each session will accommodate around 10 to 15 students, creating a focused learning environment. The classes will be held live, and all sessions will be recorded and uploaded on YouTube, giving additional access to students who may not be able to join live.
Education is a powerful tool for change, yet financial challenges often hinder students from reaching their potential. By supporting this project, you’re helping me create accessible, high-quality resources that can uplift students from underserved backgrounds. I’ll be dedicating 8 hours of my personal time weekly to this effort, but I need your support to make it sustainable and impactful.
Funds raised will go towards the necessary tools for effective online teaching, resources for preparing quality content, and outreach efforts to identify and enroll students who truly need this support.
