Hello! We're Coin Toss Collective, a Bristol-based theatre company of seven young people bringing our show FREAK OUT! to the Pleasance at the Edinburgh Fringe, 31st July - 26th August.
We're massively excited about our first ever Fringe run at such an awesome venue, but costs of it are high and a month up in Edinburgh means a lot of financial insecurity for quite a few of us, so we need a bit of help to make it happen!!
We are a youth led company of seven and work collaboratively - our members are 21-27, we are a diverse group, majority queer and neurodiverse. Some of our backgrounds include, first and second generation migrant, POC, a person with disability, working class and low income background.
If you can spare a moment to make a donation, however big or small, it will definitely go a long way. Thank you so much!
ABOUT THE SHOW:
Written and performed by our seven-strong ensemble, FREAK OUT! is inspired by the UK’s ‘disappearing coastline’. The show draws from our research into British seaside communities threatened by coastal erosion, and stimulates conversations around activism, climate anxiety and climate justice. It plays with theatrical styles and form, blending clowning, movement, live art and projection with an issue-led narrative into a high-energy cocktail of a show. Things will get messy… literally.
A five-star review by Broadway World said that the show “celebrates the beauty of the coast and laments its loss with exceptionally ingenious flair”, Fringebiscuit (★★★★) described it as “poetically playful and creatively choreographed”, Theatre and Tonic (★★★★) stated it’s “not one to miss”, and Adventures in Theatreland (★★★★) called it “utterly engaging” and “unforgettable”.
Following its debut at the Weston Studio, Bristol Old Vic in 2022, FREAK OUT! was nominated for Show of the Week at VAULT Festival 2023, received an Offies Commendation this year and had a sell-out run at Camden People’s Theatre in April. We have also developed the show with Papatango Prize-winning playwright Matt Grinter, movement director Deepraj Singh, and choreographer and Sadler's Wells Associate Artist Anthony Matsena.
FREAK OUT! will also be coming to the Tobacco Factory, Bristol (Fri 14th June) and Omnibus Theatre, Clapham for Fringe previews (21st - 23rd July) before our run at the Pleasance, Edinburgh this August.
