The Fowey Community Bus provides transport for people who have difficulty accessing other forms of transport. We are a self-funded organisation run by local volunteers in association with Age UK. Our sole aim is to serve the Fowey Community and the local area by helping people access facilities within Cornwall.
Originally, we were part of St John’s Ambulance and in 2014 when St John’s left Fowey we decided to get together to ensure this vital service was not lost. Led by our dear friend Colin Richards the bus soon became a lifeline for many residents and ten years on we are proud to still be providing this service. You will have seen us on our regular trips around the area in our big white minibus, branded the Fowey Community Bus (not to be mistaken for the Fowey Town Bus).
We are a not-for-profit organisation and we rely entirely on donations and fund-raising events. Our team are all volunteers and we share a passion for supporting those who without our bus would find it hard to leave their homes. We take up to 12 passengers at a time and have wheelchair and mobility access. Our passengers are collected from and returned to their homes, and we are always happy to help them during their trip out if needed.
