When we first came together to create Foulmouths, it struck us as unusual that Falmouth, a small, picturesque coastal town, was home to universities, art schools and a budding creative community. 4 years later, having studied and built our lives here, its not surprising at all; Falmouth has so much to offer for anyone and everyone!
As artists, we wanted to investigate this, unravel it and inspect it. We wanted to assess our experiences under a harsh, uncompromising light. We wanted to be vulnerable, and what better way to do that than with our art?
Our collective is designed to allow people from all walks of life to explore and express how their experiences have been shaped because of (or even in spite of) Falmouth. Whether this be ways that you’ve grown, relationships you’ve made, things you’ve achieved or not, all artists, irrespective of art style or medium, are welcome to explore how Falmouth has made them the people they are today.
The hard work of our collective will cumulate in an exhibit taking place at The Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society, otherwise known as The Poly, situated here in Falmouth on Church Street. The exhibit will take place from the 9th-12th of July, with a special evening of live performances taking place on the 11th.
To us at Foulmouths HQ, we don't want our artists to be bound by monetary restraints, we simply want them to be able to create insightful art without having to worry about expenses. But we do need YOUR help. In order for our collective to strive, as we know it can, we are looking to raise funds to cover the hiring costs of our exhibition space.
Whether you are an art enthusiast, Falmouth enthusiast or just someone who knows how much a place can shape identity, please get involved in supporting local artists and providing the opportunity for work to be shown by donating today.
Please give whatever you can to support our cause.
Many thanks,
India and Theo
