STORY
When time fades, love grows...
Ethyl is a highly strung, no-nonsense hotel owner, preparing for the last few days of her career before retirement. Battling with her recent Alzheimer's diagnosis jeopardises her leadership in her final days as boss, and in an effort to conceal her illness from her daughter and soon-to-be-successor, Emma, their relationship becomes strained. Facing this tension and an uncertain future ahead, will the mother and daughter be able to reconnect or will the love they have for each other be forgotten?
WHY THIS FILM MATTERS?
This film draws inspiration from the profound experiences of our team members who have been touched by the loss of cherished family members. Many of our grandparents have faced, or are currently wrestling with, the challenges posed by Alzheimer's disease. Growing up, witnessing the gradual decline of a person we once knew so well, not only impact the individuals who are diagnosed, but also on their relatives and loved ones who support them through this tumultuous journey.
Through our storytelling, we intend to shine a light on the realities of living with dementia from the patient's point of view; the details and visuals that are present throughout the film are not just artistic choices; they are heartfelt tributes to our loved ones who have faced adversity with grace and courage.
Furthermore, we hope to dedicate our final year film to our beloved family members who have experienced this profound loss of self. We do also want to raise awareness about the effects of Dementia. Ultimately, our aspiration is to create a lasting positive impact on both viewers and families affected by this devastating disease.
FILM INSPIRATIONS
VISION
We recognize the critical role that cinematography plays in the overall impact and effectiveness of a film. Given this understanding, we dedicated a significant portion of our pre-production phase to redrafting and revising both our script and storyboards. This process not only allowed us to refine our narrative and visual style but also provided us with a clearer perspective on our creative vision.
