The additional equipment in the park will mean that families and organisations can get together and play games ; meet new people; make new friends; and enjoy spending time in the fresh air for free. The park is used daily by dog walkers; runners; children and residents of all ages, ethnicities and cultures. All abilities and ages will be able to get involved.
The local Junior School, Bourne School has children from over 30 different countries being educated together, but has no green space of its own. This new equipment in their local park will provide huge benefits for all these children, allowing them space to play safely outdoors together.
In a multi racial area, taking part in sports activities together will help break down barriers, increase understanding of each others cultures, and bring people together within the community in their green space.
Residents will be encouraged to create teams that regularly play together and against each other in the different sports that these nets can be used for. They will be able to exercise with new sports that they might not have tried before. Hopefully being surrounded by others enjoying the experience, they will feel encouraged to continue exercising regularly, and have fun together.
It is also important that residents will also feel that their needs are being thought about by others, and their ideas and feedback at consultation are being listened to and acted upon. Making them feel more empowered. Creating a stronger sense of Community in their area.
