Foodhall is a volunteer-powered community hub in the heart of Sheffield. During the COVID-19 emergency it is our priority to ensure that everyone can access the food they need. We provide food and support to members of the public who request it, especially those most at-risk and isolated. We have been operating a helpline (01143036040) and food delivery service since late March and by the end of May had delivered:
We began life using surplus food to feed the community, and we are still collecting food that would otherwise be wasted. We're receiving donations in kind from partners including other foodbanks and the council. But to fulfill the demand we've seen for emergency food parcels we are buying tonnes and tonnes of food and hygiene products.
We are working out how to move off an emergency footing and help people have stable and sustainable access to food – it is why we exist in the first place after all – but right now we're asking for donations to help us help people through the next phase of the pandemic and on to the 'new normal'.
Money raised through this crowdfunder will be used to allow us to respond flexibly to meet the needs of the community through the pandemic and beyond.
