What we are doing
Provide relief and support to struggling families, lone parents, individuals, young people and older adults who have been directly or indirectly impacted by the pandemic or are going through short term crisis.
How we are doing it
This is being done through weekly food supplies, the provision of emergency food boxes, basic essential products, free phone call chat, befriending services, physical activities, training and mentoring
Why it matters
Without this project many more families will be struggling to heat their homes and eat. Others will be readmitted back to hospital and the level of anxiety, stress and depression will increase astronomically. Some people would find it difficult to carry on due to the state of their mind given the prevailing conditions.
Impact
Tackle readmission of older people to hospital due to loneliness and isolation. Eliminate child food poverty. Enhance the physical and mental wellbeing of young people leading to a positive change in behaviour and a bridge of the school attainment gap among disadvantage and ethnic minority groups. Create a level plain field where everyone has equal chance to thrive and succeed.
What makes the project unique is the dedication, passion, and commitment of both staff and volunteers. The ‘can do’ spirit and determination to make a change in the lives of ordinary people is extraordinary.
My motivations
My motivation for doing this project is my mother. She thought me how to look out for the interest of other people even when all the odds are against you.
Milestone and lessons learnt
We started working on this project in 2018 on a small scale and gathered momentum over the years. To date, we have supported over 36000 beneficiaries. Last year alone, over 13500 beneficiaries were supported through our project including six other charities. Most of the lessons learnt over the years has enabled us to put systems in place to offer great service and positive experience to users.
What the money will be used on
The money raised will be spent on training, mentoring, equipment’s, sport activities, food boxes, rent, advertisement, hiring, staff cost, volunteer expenses, insurance, admin and overheads cost.
