Deliver work shops to teach parents & children, or whoever would like to learn how to grow food and set up and manage food growing areas

We're still collecting donations

On the 29th March 2023 we'd raised £160 with 4 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

Who are we?

Food Warriors Community Garden

Food Warriors recently took on a community garden plot in the well being gardens area at Stanmer Park

Between the leaders of the Food Warriors group we have experience in growing food, managing allotments, youth work, care work and qualified in forest school leadership skills, horticulture and woodland management.

We are also newly trained in Forest school first aid and hold an enhanced CRB certificate.

We are slowly developing the space to deliver work shops to parents, children or anyone who wishes to learn how to grow food and set up and manage growing areas.

We have recently been clearing the overgrown space and making plans. We hope to launch our work shops by the end of March. We would like to prepare grow kits for people to take home with them to continue using the skills which they learn at the work shops.

We need to build a shelter as its a sunny spot in the summer and for rainy seasons. We want to build work shop benches under the shelter along with raised bed areas around the community garden.

Community Impact

Giving people access to outdoor space and learn lifelong skills. Building confidence, self esteem and resilience. Bringing people in our community together who could be otherwise isolated.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We noticed that since covid lockdowns that the allotment waiting lists have at-least doubled. Showing how many people don’t have a garden or growing area. That people want/need these spaces to go to and are keen to grow their own food.

With raising living costs it will help support people to be more resilient by learning how to grow their own food and set up growing areas in their gardens if they have one, or to learn how to grow food in window boxes and grow bags at home.

We need funds to cover our essential running costs to finish providing a welcoming and prepared space at our new plot up at Stanmer Park Well-being Gardens. Where we will build a shelter with work benches, raised bed areas and acquire equipment and resources that we need to provide this much needed project to those in our community. We also intend to offer subsidised/free work shops to make it fully accessible.
