Thank you for donating to Nigel's crowdfunder for Southend Foodbank. 

Together we smashed the target - £350 was donated online, topped up with Gift Aid, and cash was sent directly to the warehouse which has also been added to the total. This is a massive amount to raise, especially in just over 2 weeks. You are all stars, especially our newly clean-shaven Nigel. The money has now been transferred to the foodbank and is about to be used to buy some urgently needed food. 

Since the start of this year, the foodbank has needed to buy more than ever before just to keep up with record numbers of local people turning to us for help. With food costs rising, we have seen more people struggling - those struggling to make ends meet who need the foodbank and those who support the foodbank but are now struggling to donate or finding that their donation simply buys less. The warehouse team have an arrangement with a major supermarket that lets them buy in bulk at lower costs than if we went into a shop and picked items off the shelves. It also gets delivered to the warehouse directly and when they are buying several tonnes of food that makes a big difference too.

Your kind and generous donation is being turned into food, which then the foodbank volunteers turn into packed bags of groceries that people can take home and make into meals to eat with their families. As well as the nutrition that food provides, being able to eat together with a little less stress about having the basics, and knowing that the community cares enough to share food with those who don't have enough, makes a real and immediate impact.
